This is a facial ultrasound showing placement of a dermal filler. What type of filler is this? Where is it anatomically located?
These are important things for you to know. Blindly placing a filler in the face will not yield max results for your patients. Fillers placed too deeply can result in nodules as well as fillers placed too superficially.
Ultrasound helps:
*knowing where it is being placed
*avoid avoiding vascular structures
*seeing previous work that may have been performed
*determining the cause and efficacy of treatment of vascular occlusions

Would you have a doctor perform a procedure on you that learned about it from a colleague but never had any actual training? Would you go to a doctor to do a procedure on you that learned to do it online? I certainly hope your answered to both is “No”.

The problem in the aesthetic industry is that there is no standard.

No mandated training.

There is no board certification in aesthetics, contrary to what various companies and their marketing gurus want you to believe.

So if you’re going to start injecting faces, please be sure you have a good training and completely understand of the anatomy of the area you are trying to approach.

I am absolutely shocked at the lack of anatomy knowledge of so many physicians and nurses and nurse practitioners who are doing these procedures.

Honestly, it is not their fault because the focus on anatomy has decreased significantly over the past number of years for numerous reasons in training programs.

It is their fault that they have not pursued more education on it on in their own.

Your education does not stop when you graduate nor when you get your degree. Getting your drivers license does not indicate that your expert driver.

The lack of attention in programs does not negate its extreme value and crucial importance in knowing how to do things correctly.

In our training program, we focus a lot on anatomy with the hopes of making you the safest and best injector possible. We have a program upcoming in Bristol, Tennessee in March. We always have private instruction available as well.

A little hard truth, the New York way. Why are you still sticking needles blindly into people’s faces when you do a dermal filler? With a technology that we have today, that is completely inexcusable. The quick pull back on your syringe is far from a guarantee that you are not in an arterial vessel. The. “ one up and one over technique” is BS. We have seen vessels, literally sitting right on the bone in that location where I guess the patient didn’t take the time to read the anatomy books. Too much of aesthetics is based on fluff. You cannot stay in business selling fluff.
We will teach you what you need to know on doing facial ultrasounds. If you are an injector, treating patients, you owe it to them to be SAFE. Guessing and praying it’s not a treatment plan.
